Our Fees
At Affirmative Minds Psychology, we value clarity and accessibility. Below are our current session fees and rebate options.
Please note: the Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommends a rate of $318 for a 46–60 minute consultation (effective 1 July 2025 – 30 June 2026). While this serves as a benchmark for private practice services, individual psychologists may set their own fees depending on experience, location, and operating costs. At Affirmative Minds Psychology, our fees are below this benchmark. By offering a rate below the APS guideline, we aim to provide accessible, professional, and client-focused support without compromising on quality.

Standard Psychology Session
For clients attending privately without Medicare or NDIS funding:
General Psychologist: $235 per 50-minute session
Clinical Psychologist: $265 per 50-minute session
Private sessions are payable on the day. You may be able to claim a rebate through your private health insurance (see below).
NDIS (Plan & Self-Managed Participants)
Affirmative Minds Psychology is not an NDIS-registered provider, but we work with plan-managed and self-managed participants.
Generally Registered Psychologist: $232.99 per session (includes 50 minutes face-to-face and up to 10 minutes non-face-to-face supports such as notes, liaison, or planning)
Clinical Psychologist: $265 per session (includes 50 minutes face-to-face and up to 10 minutes non-face-to-face supports)
Sessions are billed in line with the current NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Limits (Therapeutic Supports). No gap applies for Generally registered psychologists.

Medicare (Better Access)
If you have a referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates:
General Psychologist: $235 per 50-minute session - rebate $98.97
Clinical Psychologist: $265 per 50-minute session - rebate $145.25
Rebates are processed electronically after your appointment.
Private Health Psychology Sessions
If you’re not using a Medicare rebate, you may be able to claim a portion of your session fee through your private health insurance. Rebate amounts vary by fund and policy, please check with your insurer directly.
School Consultations
We offer school-based consultations to support students, teachers, and families in creating environments that promote learning, wellbeing, and inclusion.
Fee: $235 per hour
Travel Time: Charged in addition to the consultation fee, based on the time required to travel to and from the school.
This service ensures that supports are extended beyond the therapy room and directly into the student’s learning environment, fostering better outcomes both academically and socially.

Psychological Assessments
Comprehensive assessment packages are individually quoted and include the intake session, standardised testing, scoring and interpretation, a detailed written report, and a feedback session.
Medicare rebates occasionally apply to specific components of assessments (for example, under a paediatric referral for certain diagnostic assessments). NDIS funding may also apply where the assessment supports your plan goals.
Cancellation Policy
Effective from 10th November 2025
We understand that sometimes you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. To ensure fair access for everyone in our community, we require adequate notice for any changes.
Please note: You have until your appointment time commences to let us know that you cannot attend as scheduled for the 75% cancellation fee to apply. Once your scheduled appointment time has passed, it will be considered a missed appointment and 100% of the session fee will be payable.
